Wells Road students participated in a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) day on Thursday. Third and fourth graders were given paper plates and scissors. The challenge was to create the longest continuous strip by cutting the paper plate. Did you know that a cut paper plate could stretch out to be longer than 30 feet? The fifth grade classes created paper airplanes. Their challenge was to create a plane that soared the farthest. Some planes traveled down the hill and all the way to the soccer nets! - Amy Lupoli, Science Coach

Students in Mrs. LaFlamme and Mr. Janski's class became CIA (colonial investigation agency) agents for a day participating in a crime solving scavenger hunt. They used information from their social studies notes about the different colonial regions to solve a series of 10 crimes, stating the evidence and what colonial region it could be found in. Mr. Whitten's class ended April, National Poetry Month, by working on concrete poetry. The class really enjoyed this! They formed squares, flowers, a question mark, a bone, a guitar and many other objects. We're in May now, and the kids still want me to read them poems! YES!!!
