Integrated Preschool Program

The Granby Public School District is proud to offer enrollment in our integrated preschool classrooms for the 2023-2024 school year.

An integrated preschool is defined as a learning opportunity by which students with special needs are integrated with typically developing peers in a 50/50 ratio of enrollment. Benefits of an integrated preschool include gains in intellectual, language and social skills. In addition to instruction from the classroom teacher, services such as speech and language, occupational and physical therapy are delivered within the classroom.

Classrooms are staffed by dual certified early childhood and special education teachers, and classes are combined with 3- and 4-year old students.

Preschool Curriculum

  • The preschool curriculum focuses on a developmental approach to early childhood learning, which is aligned with the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards.

  • Each day consists of opportunities for exploration and discovery as a way of learning, helping children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills.

  • Within an enriching and enjoyable environment, children will develop the foundational skills necessary for future learning.

  • Parent partnerships play an integral role in furthering children's learning through meaningful participation in the educational process.
