https://drive.google.com/a/granbyschools.org/file/d/1rLx0qMZzpCJCUlZRI536gq5p4I2gvBxB/view?usp=sharing
THREE WAYS TO BE GRANBY BEARS THIS WEEK:
1) GMHS Students and Staff:
Nursing homes and other healthcare facilities for the elderly have been hit hard by the coronavirus. In response to the pandemic, Mr. Neal, GMHS Social Worker and Behavioral Health Officer with the 182nd Medical Company MA National Guard, has been with his National Guard Unit helping at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke for several weeks.
To raise spirits, we would like to rally students and staff to write cards to residents and staff at the Soldier’s Home. It can be a "Thank you for serving our country", a "Just wanted to say hello and let you know I am thinking about you" or a "Thank you for taking care of our veterans" kind of note. One of next week's GMHS spirit challenges involves submitting a selfie with an essential worker. Consider submitting a picture of yourself with the card addressed to "Soldiers' Home Staff". Your message does not have to be lengthy. Cards can be store bought or homemade.
Place your card in an envelope with the designated recipient (Veteran or Staff) written on the outside. Place your card inside another envelope and mail it to the high school. The cards will be collected at the high school and delivered to the Soldiers' Home as one care package. Please mail your card(s) by next Friday, May 8.
Please consider brightening someone's day by sending a card, or even two! Mail your card(s) to:
Granby Memorial High School
315 Salmon Brook Street
Granby, CT 06035
Attn: Soldiers' Home Card Project
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Morgan Wichmann (20wichmannm@granbyschools.org) or Mrs. Burke (burkel@granby.k12.ct.us).
2. The students of the Bridges Program have put together a Virtual Spirit Week to keep our spirits high! Post your pictures online and tag @gmhsyrbk2020 on Instagram! Let's see your creativity!
3) Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! - Students, check your emails!

Quote of the day: Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!

The Congressional Youth Cabinet is collecting winter clothing items for the Mercy Housing & Shelter Corporation in Hartford. Mercy provides services for individuals and families who are homeless or at the risk of becoming homeless. They provide hope and a chance for a new life for those in need.
A collection bin is set up in the main office of Granby Memorial High School accepting donations. It would be greatly appreciated to donate any winter clothing that you no longer use or wear. This includes coats, sweaters, hats, gloves, socks, scarves, and snowpants. The last day to donate will be Friday, February 14th. Every contribution is greatly appreciated!

There will be NO PLC Thursday February 6, 2020

PSAT results will be released on Monday, 12/9/19!
When PSAT/NMSQT scores are ready online, students will receive an email with instructions on creating your College Board account, going to your online score report, & using an access code to view your scores. Look for the email!

Vote for Granby Senior Tessa McMillan for the Hartford Courant Athlete of the week! https://courant.secondstreetapp.com/Athlete-Of-The-Week/gallery/

Reminder! Next Wednesday, October 23rd, is the College Fair! No parking at GMHS for seniors that day so that our admissions reps have places to park. Thanks!

Please note the following temporary minor adjustments to our morning drop-off procedures due to construction of our new Security Vestibule Entrance. Please take careful note of the following and plan ahead accordingly for any adjustments you may need to make.
1. Work will begin on Wednesday October 9 (No-school in observance of Yom Kippur). On Thursday October 10 and Friday October 11, due to the anticipated volume, students are strongly encouraged to take the bus on those days or be dropped off on the 10/202 side instead.
2. Parents who need to drop off from 189 (and who usually do so in the GMHS main entrance circle) will be instead re-routed up the hill behind the tennis courts for students to enter through the upper rotunda.
3. Parents who need to use the 189 entrance to drop students at the back of the middle school will still be able to do so, but are again encouraged to use the 10/202 side.
4. In the event parents or visitors need to enter the building, they will park in the visitor spaces and enter the Community Gym Doors.
5. Seniors with parking privileges will still be able to park in their regular spots and will enter the Community Gym entrance.
6. Students and staff who park in the circle can still do so, but will enter through the Community Gym entrance.
7. At the end of the day, parents picking up students will again be asked to re-route up the hill behind the tennis courts, and any athletic buses will pick up students at the back of the math/world language wing and on the GMMS lot side.
8. In any event of an emergency evacuation, the main entrance doors will still be accessible for egress.
Thank you very much for your patience and cooperation!
