Fall Student Athlete End of Season Survey- Student athletes, the Athletic Department would like your feedback! Please check your school e-mail beginning October 29th, to find a survey to fill out regarding your experience in your Fall sport this season. This feedback is anonymous, but you can feel free to put your name on it if you would like! Boys and girls soccer, field hockey, volleyball, and boys and girls cross country, please have your survey’s completed by Friday November 15th. Football players, since your season extends a little longer, your surveys are due on Friday, November 29th. Please take a few minutes and get these completed, your feedback is valuable and strongly considered!
WINTER ATHLETICS PAPERWORK PROCEDURE- Students who plan to participate in winter sports should start to get their paperwork together. Please see below to find the necessary forms. Beginning November 20th, students may begin to get their medical paperwork approved by the nurse which should be done during a student’s SDA. After getting the paperwork approved by the nurse, students should then see Mrs. Chamberlain and/or Mrs. Pagano during their lunch wave (not in the athletic office!) on the below dates to show them their approved emergency medical form (“ticket”) from the nurse as well as turn in their athletic permission slip and pay to participate money. Mrs. Chamberlain and/or Mrs. Pagano will be stationed in the lunch room on November 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, and December 2nd to collect this paperwork. If you do not have your “ticket” approved by the nurse you will not be able to tryout/practice until you get it approved. Please note that the nurse leaves daily at 2:30. Also keep in mind that all accountabilities must be cleared in order to participate in athletics. Families seeking financial assistance surrounding pay to participate should contact Kim Chamberlain directly at 860-844-3020 or email@example.com.
- For any previous injury, a statement of clearance from your doctor.
- Pay for Participation fee: Please note the fees for B/G Basketball, B/G Indoor Track, Wrestling, and Cheer are $75. Swimming will have an additional pay for participation fee including the $75 fee. The addiditional PTP fee for Swimming can not be determined until the number of participants is final. Per Board of Education Policy: No student will be excluded from participation on athletic clubs or teams based on inability to pay. Upon receipt of a fee waiver request. The Town of Granby Social Services Department will use established eligibility requirements to determine if individuals or families meet the eligibility requirements. Please contact Kim Chamberlain at firstname.lastname@example.org for the fee waiver request form.
Winter Sports Informational Night- will take place on Wednesday, December 4th, at 7:30 in the auditorium. A general athletics participation information session will take place with Mrs. Chamberlain from 7:30-8:00 and at 8:00 each team will break off into different rooms to give team specific information and expectations. If your student athlete is playing a winter sport as their first sport this school year, it is mandatory for student athletes and at least one parent/guardian to attend the both sessions. If your student athlete already played a sport in the Fall, you do not need to come until 8:00 for individual team meetings.
Athletic Warm-Ups- The next opportunity to purchase a set of athletic warm-ups is here! Our first round of ordering took place at the beginning of the Fall season, and the students who have already received their warm-ups seem to love them and they look really sharp! We have worked hard to find quality men's and women's styles at a reasonable price (under $100 for the entire set with jacket and pants personalization!) Our hope is that student athletes will look forward to owning their own set of GMHS athletics warm-ups that will be personalized with their name which will allow them to keep track of them a little easier! (Please be sure to choose the option to personalize so that warm-ups do not get mixed up!) Also, due to the high quality of these warm-up sets, our hope is that you will only have to buy one set throughout your high school career, so think about growing a little bit when selecting your sizes! These warm-ups are not a mandatory purchase for student athletes. Please refer to the PDF documents attached to this e-mail, that are also on the GMHS athletics website to see what the warm-ups look like, as well as to learn the ordering instructions. As you will see, there is an ordering "window" in which orders can be placed ONLY from now until 12/2, no exceptions. There will be future chances to order warm-up sets prior to each sports season, so if you aren't sure if you want to buy a set right now, you can place an order before the spring season if you wish. All of the ordering takes place online, however the warm-up sets will be shipped to the school and the Athletic Department will distribute them promptly upon their arrival. Since this is our second round of ordering the warm-ups, we no longer have samples in the Athletic Office, however, feel free to ask your friends who already have their warm-ups to take a look at them and consider what size you might want for yourself! *Please note: Nike is currently out of small women’s jackets, if you order a small women’s jacket, you should expect to receive it in late February. LIDS apologizes for the inconvenience.
