Special Services
The Granby Public Schools have approximately 2,100 students in grades K-12. The Special Service Department serves all 2,100 students. In a very real sense, special services staff strive to work collaborately and cooperatively with school system staff to meet the needs of all students.
For more than two decades, the department has maintained a philosophy and practice of including all students in the curriculum and programs of the school system. This is accomplished by bringing services to students within their individual classrooms, whenever possible, and by modifying the curriculum and adjusting the classroom environment. Of the 205 students receiving special education services, less than 3% are placed in programs outside of the district. Granby’s five schools provide similar services while tailoring those services to the unique needs of the age/grade levels and curriculum demands.
